Cistus (cleansing herb) is a small shrub with fragrant pink flowers. It has nothing to with rose, even though his English name is “rock rose.” People use cleansing properties of more than 2000 years. Its resin is contained in myrrh or labdanum oil. In traditional medicine Mediterranean area its use was very broad, it was used to treat: infections and inflammation of the urinary tract, catarrhal gastrointestinal tract, liver disease, skin, respiratory and inflammation of the joints. Its beneficial cleansing properties thanks to polyphenols, which have a antioxidant properties – neutralize free radicals. Polyphenols also inhibit the formation of inflammatory conditions, have reinforcing properties, they add power, prevent the formation of atherosclerotic plaques. Drinking tea with cleansing herb cleanses the body of toxins, helps to get rid of heavy metals from the body, so it is also recommended to smokers and people who want to get rid of the habit. It also acts anti-allergic thereby inhibit the release of histamine.
