Walnut

Walnut is a plant traditionally occurs in the Mediterranean. The current tree is planted all over Europe. Most are primarily fruits – nuts harvested in September and October, but few people realizes that walnut leaves are used in herbal medicine. Young leaves collected in June, have very rich ingredients: tannins (astringent), terpenes (antibacterial), flavonoids, ellagic acid (which is an antioxidant, protects against cancer and supports the immune system), mineral salts and vitamins C, B, K and provitamin A. The set of these substances causes the leaves of walnut have effect:

  • anti-inflammatory,
  • anti-bleeding,
  • bactericidal, fungicidal,
  • anthelmintic,
  • improve metabolism,
  • lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Decoction of leaves are used internally (drinking) for the following symptoms: in gastritis, gastroenteritis, diarrhea, bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, flatulence, and in the absence of appetite. Externally the wash, rinse, bath in the case of inflammation of the mouth, gums, tonsils and throat, conjunctivitis, acne and other skin disorders, hyperhidrosis (especially legs).
